'Cookies' are small files containing a few lines of text that some websites place onto your computer and use as a 'look-up' to improve your web experience next time you visit that site.

This website puts one cookie on your computer - it stores the width of your computer screen so that date bars and the like can be scaled correctly during your session.

And we also store three types of information on the Service Provider's computer:
  • we keep a count of the number of times the site is visited,

  • we keep a journal which logs which parts of the system visitors are viewing. This may seem a little bit instrusive but:

    • it helps us to improve the way our website works, for example by ensuring that users are finding what they are looking for easily

    • the data is anonymous if you enter the site giving a password but not your name

  • If you change the "Settings" while viewing this website, a small file of the settings you've chosen is created (on the server). This keeps the settings 'current' as you navigate from page to page.

    The file's called something like
    '6ql2dqtpdsk2l587eon1hih042.dat'

    and it contents look like
    '50 50 0 0 1 1 1 1 1 0 0 full 1 5 2'

Each number records the Settings you have chosen:
