Joel is head of the 3rd branch of Posts from England - it is thought he was English, and not Dutch, because he settled in Southampton LI where almost everyone had an English name. At that time, the Dutch had colonised New Amsterdam (now New York)
He was in the drug importation business with his brothers (J J & A Post)
